What's happened to The Snug?!

Hi Guys...
So, What exactly HAS happened to The Snug?!
Why no new a show last week?
Why no new show this week?

We can only offer an apology...and blame someone else! Upon my return from New York (which was a blast, btw) I found my internet connection was down. After rebooting pcs and routers etc I googled my provider (from work, gawdbless'em) to see what'd been going on.

Apparently Fast24 have gone bust, upped sticked, skidaddled etc Leaving me (and The Snug) up Excrement Creek with no paddle.
On the upside they did totally disconnect me so I can sign up with someone else reasonably easy (which I have already done...) It's gonna be about 10 days!

All being well, The Snug should be returning, revived and refreshed on December 14th. If there's anything you'd like to hear on that show the please drop us a line at the usual address
snugradio@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks for sticking with us, see you soon

Maf

BTW...for those regular listeners...!! I GOT THE JOB!! woohoo!

Well, it's a short show this week because Maf has an important job interview tomorrow so he needs to get up early. But we try and pack it with fun and frolics for all you enthusiastic listeners

A short checklist for tonights show would include

Prisoners rights >:( - Why do we insist on giving these people any at all!!!
New societal order - Was Guy Fawkes right? And how does this involve Jericho?

The One With Haven

We play some parody tunes from our listeners Elmo and Dawnie early in the show, before moving on to some TV and film stuff. On the Snug Forum, someone was talking about Dexter, so Maf checked that out this week and her about Mafs escapade with pirate porn?!

As we neared ten o'clock, we charged into Lees holiday report and his glowing recommendation of the Pwllheli Haven park...we are now running a Haven complaint letter competition. After listening to the show, construct us the best complaint letter and you can have whatever Haven send us as a prize.

Music tonight

November 2nd - Show 130 - Podcast 43

The One With A Halloween Repeat

This show is an experience you can't do justice to in show notes.

Alter-egos, Malcolm and Len-nerd take the reins in the studio and host an 'Almost Haunted Live' special. 2 hours of ghostly goings on including interview with top medium, Paul T. Geist, some Halloweenesque music. While all this is going on, Maf & Lee go all 'outside broadcast' and report in live from their vist to a local haunted location to see if there's any truth the local 'child killer' legends.

Although we'd rate this a PG, you might prefer to cover smaller ears :)

October 26th - Show 129 - Podcast 42

The One With CindyB & Tom too

Notes about the show...scrappier than usual cos it's Sunday now...

We get into Heroes and Lost pretty early on. Maf feels that Heroes is besting Lost somewhat in the 'Oh my God, I can't wait till next week' Stakes. As Lee hasn't started on Lost yet, he can't comment.

Did you know why SnugRadio is awesome? We didn't either till we checked out Cindys blog (address below) And we demand to know why we don't have The Snug wikipedia entry yet??? Any volunteers?

while were talking about Cindyb from Texas and Tom from Manchester The Snug Laptop reboots itself. We decide to serenade the newer (uninitiated) listeners with 'Start Wearing Purple'

There's a New mix of tunes on the Snug Music loop for Halloween - It's a good 6 hours long so there no excuse not to rack up our listening hours for the next few weeks :)

The One With Movie Reviews

Early in the show we hear about Maf's interview that threatens stability at Snug Towers. Also in the workplace, we hear about Lee's tired eyes and what he needs to do about them (spoons and cucumbers???)

We turn to our first singles (that's 7" Vinyl records for all you whippersnappers in the audience) Mafs was Flash by Queen and Lees was Bad Boys by Wham. The One With Pirates (of course)

Official Talk Like A Pirate Day was September 19th - Did you do your part?

Lee takes a night off (to earn some cash) so Pirate Dave stands in, even though he has a case of pirate-man flu. We played a lot more music than normal...some of which we 'discussed' over and some we didn't.
We also cover a lot of piratey stuff in honour of aforementioned TLAPD...see links below
then move onto other matters like Sundays Karaoke with Roy & Wendy - seperate singers and both unique.
A Catastrophic laptop failure mid show leads us to play some vinyl...yes...real vinyl!!! or 'supermarket music' as Pirate Dave calls it. We eventually get the PC back but not before we come across an album by James Last called 'Non-Stop Dancing 69'!!!

The One With Arachnids

There's many a tale told in tonights show. If you download the podcast, you'll hear all the following and more

Mafs arachnoid events!! It's that time of the year again, folks...and I hate spiders. This conversation eventually deviates into 'winged black recluse funnel widows' and I'm not best pleased!

We have a story about the man who ate goldfish..no, really, he did. Probably best skipping through this if you've just eaten!
We have a short joke time where Lee regales us with a few gems from his new joke book then we move on to 'what would you like people to say at your funeral?'

At the tail-end of the show we suddenly, tangentally, move onto the imaginary skill of time stopping, the Twilight Zone, learning new skills the Matrix way and photoreading.

Don't forget, Next week is our talk like a pirate day special so send us you piratey mp3 greetings to snugradio@yahoo.co.uk
and there's a prize for eveyone we recieve.

The One With Colonic Irrigation

On the run up to our 'Talk Like A Pirate Day' special (21st September), Lee informs us that he's not going to make it...that's ok though, because we're gonna draft in Pirate Dave to co-host.
Don't forget to send us you piratey mp3 greetings to snugradio@yahoo.co.uk

The dropouts on the live feed finally get to Maf and he...wait for it...stops ALL his downloads. Oh My God, wonders will never cease!

Lee develops a sudden interest in Colonic irrigation which leads to a long conversation involving the width of pipes, wheat intolerance, ESP Toast and the 2nd snug TVcast?? (Eeeeek!)

Moving swiftly on, Maf finds that www.moneysavingexpert.com , whilst living up to it's name in general, has just cost him £800 (damn those cheap New York flights). It is worth signing up for the email if you live in the UK though.

Talking of New York, If any locals listen and have any untouristy type things to do/see then let me know. Last time I went I was advised to check out Baby Bo's, a small mexican restaurant, which I really enjoyed. Of course, If any of the Gaijin a Go-Go crowd fancy showing us the sights...:D

We test drive a Skype conference with HQ adn Tamara, then we Skype Rob, an ex-listener who just happens to be online. Near the tail-end of the show we even get a webcam appearance from Mr Tamara himself, James.

The One With A Theremin

Tonight we discuss getting old (Maf is excited about buying hedge clippers & bbqs), new neighbours (The new occupant of the flat next door to Snug Towers has yet to complain about the show...) and Talk Like A Pirate Day!
We also chew the fat about ways to go...as in spectaular deaths and taking as many people as possible with you (in a nice way of course). Lee tells us about John and some of the stories he may have for us.
In case you still haven't had enough, Maf digs out his Theremin and displays the musical flair of an amputee pygmy Lebanese hippo.

The One With Free Passes

This one's rated PG-13 - We say Motherf*&$ker a bit

Maf reviews SNAKES ON A PLANE and Sam Jackson leaves a message for Lee, kind of.

Snug Film Review section has a new sponsor. It's Apollo Cinema, Rhyl and we're excited cos they've given us press passes to review all the new releases....look forward to a slew of cinema related shows...:)

We talk about Mafs new Smoker (of the bbq variety...nothing to do with cigarettes) that was pressed into service at his Mums 60th birthday party. Lee also champions the cause of X-factor non-winners Journey South who will be playing in Rhyl on Sat 27th. We get to hear some of their tight harmonies.

Let's also get a mention in for a change of Green Onions. Tonights version was by Machito which sets of a bout of bad Mexican accents

The One With Bits Missing

Ok, I have a confession...I inadvertently had the show recorder set to 'autostop' after 60 minutes and didn't notice until 10 minutes before the end of the show. This means that this show is only an hour and ten minutes long......DOH! It also means that some of the show notes will be mentioning things not in the show because I right them just after the show's finished and I don't know what's missing...

Early on we bring up last weeks fleeting reference to that damned rinky dink pink panther! It set me thinking about those dodgy theme tune lyrics. We also have a rinky dinky stinky pinky slinky moment...find out why in the show.

Youtube has a new addict...it's Lee. Not content with SnugTV he has also registered a personal account. see his vids at www.youtube.com/user/bigfunlee and PLEASE leave him comments, he gets distraught when he see's how many people have viewed the vids but there are no comments.

We also talked about the one armed lady who deposits cash at Lees bank, our new listener Dave, Fluffy and Tamaras webcams, dodgy accents and many many other irrelevant things.
Go on, admit it, we've piqued your curiousity...you're going to listen aren't you??

The One With An Ill Maf

Maf's a bit ill this week. A throat infection (which is quite a problem for a talk show!!) but we battle on and do an hour and 45 minute show anyhoo!

We float our initial ideas for a Youtube version of the show: Snug TV
We're picturing it as a 10 minute companion to the regular show with a different theme / sketch etc each week. Feel free to go to The Snug Forum and leave suggestions.
We (that is Lee) was inspired by an inventive Youtuber called Brookers. We love Brookers... and we suggest you check her out!!

This week in between building the new shed and watching Smallville (and being ill) Maf has mostly being playing 'Gun' for the Gamecube. It's a western take on Grand Theft Auto but is a lot more fun! Here's a link for you if you fancy getting in on the action too...

We touch on a server engineer at the MOD who's not allowed on the server floor because he has dual-citizenship. Find out what the offending other citizenship in the show - Not to be outdone, we get an in-show email from listener Rebecca whose husband has tri-citizenship!! Sheesh!

Before Maf was ill this week he visited The Oasis Chinese buffet in Rhyl (no connection) - it's been a looooong time since he walked into a resteraunt and immediately wanted to walk out again! Catch the show to find out what went on.

The One With A Snug 2 Ending

Let me start by saying I'm on holiday this week and next so the shows may run a little short and the shownotes a little sparse.

Lee has a guitar!! (and the first chord of Hard Days Night sounds like a piano dropping on someone...the relevance?! who knows?)

Our Myspace page is running. No one is administering it yet (other than me) but we're slowly adding friends. Why not nip over and show your support at www.myspace.com/snugradio.

In related news, we also ask Puppy to check out Second Life for us to see if it's worth getting into. He's the man on the street and we'll check back with him later to find out. What is Second Life? It's an online community thingy... more info later

Name your penis - Mafs is: Mr Floppy the Ultimate Plasma Gun and Lees enjoys the moniker of Colonel Sanders the Great White Prehensile Tentacle

Flower Painting - We must thank Tamara for sending us this link! She did make the point that it isn't her, which, all things considered, is a damn shame ;)

we have a ' don't phone, it's just for fun' backtrax - Answers next week

Competition
Right, We've stopped accepting entries for the Gaijin A Go-Go
'Send us an email, you bastards!' competition. We'll put all correct entries into the E-hat and get Saiko Mikan (Gaijins oh-so-funky bassist) to draw the winner during the next week! or maybe the week after

Music tonight:
Prince Buster - Enjoy Yourself

Tamara Sings:
Grease - There are worse things I could do
Hari-karaoke:
Don't Stop Me Now - Queen
The Snake - Al Wilson
Four Minute Warning - Mark Owen

July 20th - Show 115 - Podcast 28

The One With Superman

Superman Returns : Maf caught it at the weekend and put's it on a par with POTC:DMC! What a damn fine film this is. Brandon captures Chris Reeves' Clarkl Kent to a T and it's a fitting tribute! Although the massively scoped plot is cohesive, I only seem to remember set pieces of action (like the plane scene in the trailers). It's not a complaint though...it just shows how cool it is. Hear more gushing during the show! And why not Help The Snug by casting your eyes of these 'Super' goodies!

We talk about:
the local man who's pig-sick of his car :
www.crushmy307.co.uk
a one-handed woman who stores her money in her knickers

and although we filled 2 hours of show, I have no recollection of what else we covered. You'll just have to listen to it.

'Send us an email, you bastards!' competition. We'll put all correct entries into the E-hat and get Saiko Mikan (Gaijins oh-so-funky bassist) to draw the winner during the next week!

Listener Links
Masterbate-a-thon 2006 - Who knows why Fluffy thought we should be told about this...is she going? Is she inviting us? Is she planning a mass Snug wank? All these questions and more appear in this weeks show (although they don't all necessarily get an answer)

July 13th - Show 114 - Podcast 27

The One With POTC2

Pirates of the Caribbean 2 : We both saw this during the last week and agreed that on a scale of 1 to 10 (where A is unmissable and F is 'Howard The Duck') we give this a thumbs up. More adventury than the first with more buckles being swashed and loads of action. Mr Depp and the rest of the cast are top notch and the effects rock! Besides, it gives us more opportunity to say 'Argh!' more than usual!!
Avast Mateys, feast your eyes on this chest full of POTC booty!!

We invent the fatrosexual as a nice balance to the current epidemic of metrosexuals
and have a discussion about the general un-PC-ness of the 70's. It seems certain Canadian listeners feel we've moved a long way since then...Maf and Lee wonder which direction and whether it was the wrong one!!
we also discuss the merits of internet bomb making information as it relates to Mafs work

Welcome new listeners - Puppy & Kerry who made themselves known to us during the live show...Yaaay!

Which TV shows should our liberal Canadian download?? Our live audience came up with
Hustle, Supernatural, Lost, Life On Mars, Spooks & Doctor Who. Should you want to check them out legally, feel free to click on these amazon links (it helps pay for the a show)

Competition
Gaijin A Go-Go let us have a copy of their new album to give away in our
new cunningly titled competition 'Send us an email, you bastards!' - Just go to the Gaijin A Go-Go site and
tell us how much they are selling their new album (Go-Go Bootcamp) for.

All the correct answers will go in 'the hat' and we'll try and get Gaijin A Go Go to draw a winner sometime in July!

School textbooks in India have been censored, and "Historians should unite against this cowardly move" by the National Council of Educational Research and Training, said Calcutta historian Ashish Bose. "NCERT has committed a mistake by dropping those facts from the textbooks" under pressure from "Hindu fundamentalists." In India, it's not evolution vs. "creation science" but that ancient Hindus used to eat beef. The fact has been included in Indian history books for over a century, but NCERT, which is responsible for textbook editing, agreed to cut long-established information out of the textbooks after a multi-year campaign by offended religious fundamentalists "who have lodged a misinformation campaign," Bose said.
