June 29th - Show 112 - Podcast 25

The One With Jeff Daniels 2

Lee's back from holiday and that's a good job otherwise he would've missed, arguably, our most important show ever (so far).

There really is no better time to subscribe to our podcasts...that way, you'll never miss a thing!

Do you know something...? I'm sure I know these two from somewhere...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/north_east/5126104.stm

We spend the early part of the show welcoming our new listeners and explaining exactly what The Snug is all about...it ain't easy! Thanks to everyone new who stayed for the whole 2 hours...that takes some fortitude :)

I'll be honest with you, we had such a buzzing time that I can't remember what went on. (no, nothing to do with the cider) We spend a lot of time giving shout outs to our newest members of the Snug family and seem to dance spritely from topic to topic, even bursting into 'Start Wearing Purple' by Gogol Bordello at one point.

The Jeff interview comes in at around 40 minutes, so that's a nice chunk of the show filled. I will be releasing the interview in it's own self contained show, for those of you who don't want the other hour and twenty minutes of nonsense wrapped round it. It's official! Jeff Daniels is a Friend Of The Snug! Here's a small selection of his stuff from Amazon...!

The F&T Show 2 - June

First, an apology to the girls. Jeff's been taking all my time recently so I've not had chance to do some decent shownotes for this show...sorry ladies. I am putting the show up now and will come back to the shownotes later (hopefully over the weekend). In the meantime why not check out the F&T Blog at www.snugfans.blogspot.com

June 22nd - Show 111 - Podcast 24

The One With No Lee

Pirate Dave guest hosts to cover Lees holiday and brings a piratey flavour to the show. With a hearty 'Avast!' and 'Ahoy!', we set sail on the comedy ship - even though we decided to use a plane metaphor on the show!

Is Jonathon Ross a closet Snug listener??? - Last Saturdays show on Radio 2 suggests somebody there is - First we get 'Start Wearing Purple' by Gogol Bordello and then chats about monkeys!!

My Pirate books have arrived...Pirate Dave looks on in envy as we run through a few phrases to use on International talk like a pirate day.

Well, it's in the can, I spoke to Jeff Daniels last night and can truly say he's a damn fine chap. What a nice man. I was 'quite nervous' to start with but he soon put me at ease and was very forthcoming with his answers to my questions. Look out for the interview next week!
I did phone The Sun in the end...and the BBC. Who know what will happen next

We start talking about the 'Black Sun Swallows' (see below) and and up talking about The Goodies! The link? Bill Oddie. We never know where each Snug will lead us!

SPARE THE ROD: After a 12-year-old girl in Elgin, Ill., told her mother that she had been molested by an older man, the woman took her daughter to see Daryl Bujak, the pastor of the First Missionary Baptist Church. The minister, the unnamed mother says, said the girl was lying and tried to get the girl to recant by beating her buttocks with a three- foot wooden stick, the mother says. The girl's beatings continued for several months until the mother finally decided she must be telling the truth and went to police. Investigators say DNA evidence proves the girl's allegations. Bujak has been charged with battery; Matthew E. Resh, 33, the alleged perpetrator, was charged with five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault. The mother says she went along with the beatings because Bujak was a "man of faith" and a former police officer. Bujak, who is still being backed by church members, wrote on the church's web site that the Bible is "pure, perfect, inerrant and infallible."

The One With The Snug Book

Snug merchandise!? We bring up The Snug CD (a collection of our 'funniest' shows?) and The Snug Book (like a show but in book form) anyone with any suggestions or submissions can feel free to mail us
We talk more about Jeff Daniels - excitement builds as we have less than a week till he phones. It also seems the local press are interested, so we're on the verge of becoming local media celebs...how far can we push it? I do have the phone humber for The Sun :)

Lee's disappointed...he's just finished watching Prison Break and he's not right happy with the ending. Maf tries to point out that with programs like this (and Lost) it's not the destination, it's the journey... He's not buying it.

Can't have a show go by without some Pirates - check out Scuvy Dogs, Pirates in an adventure with scientists, so you want to be a pirate all of which I've just bought on Amazon.

Tonight I have been mostly drinking single varietal 'Apple juice'

Amongst all the other stuff we talked about that I've missed, we covered my new big Shed. Those of you who have listened for ages will feel some deja vu as it's not more than a 2 years since my last shed...do I have a shed problem?

The One With More Gaijin A Go-go

Wow...How cool is this..?
The Snug gets a mention in the liner notes for the new Gaijin A Go-Go album, Go-Go
Bootcamp!!! This means you should all go and buy a copy NOW!!

The best of the East meets the beats of the West with a sound that gets your booty shakin. Coming from a city where its normal for different cultures to electrify one another, GAIJIN A GO-GO are a high-voltage short circuit. Its the sound you never knew you were missing: infectious Japanese pop set to the rhythms of 1960s-style go-go music. A visual Hullabaloo lost in translation! Modzilla lead singer Kiku, with platinum hair and graceful 61 figure, recalls an anime drawing come to life. She leads her army of ten musicians: two female back-up singers, a full-horn and percussion section, guitar, bass and organ, all clad in original costumes of her own design.

They have also generously let us have a copy to give away in our new cunningly titled competition 'Send us an email, you bastards!' - See the site for details

This time all you need to do is go to the Gaijin A Go-Go site and tell us how much they are selling their new album (Go-Go Bootcamp) for.

All the correct answers will go in 'the hat' and we'll draw a winner in July.

This is True:
A woman walking her dog in Bristol, England, was accosted by a robber. "Give me your bags," the ruffian demanded. When she handed them over, "the victim told him twice what it was and he dropped them and ran off," prosecutors say. The bags were full of droppings from her dog, which she had dutifully picked up for disposal. Police were able to apprehend David Carlisle, 32, who was convicted of attempted robbery and sent to prison for four years.
